forget all the criterias and "checklists" and what society or so-called "friends" and family says, if you're attracted to someone go for it! Create a "Bad Romance" like Lady Gaga sings about

Until you burn yourself out chasing the Next New Thing. That's not love. That's adrenaline and hormones, like some theme park.

Love isn't the pursuit of a thrill. Instead it is a knowledge and sense of peace. A feeling of belonging and that you've arrived home. Trust me on this.

Sure, when you're ready to settle down. Until then, just go out and be reckless and carefree. Be wild and sow your oats. Love life!

I guess it's a matter of definition. Big difference between having fun and love. Love is fun, too. But if you use 'recklessly fun' as your primary definition of what love is, it will cause big problems later on in life. Because the logical next step is to look up ten years into a marriage and say, "I'm not having fun at the moment, therefore this can't be love." I've seen many a relationship go south that way.

Yep.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I had my fun. But I wasn't stupid either. And people like my idiot brother-in-law are paying for their wild oats in the form of child support payments. Twenty-two years is a long time to pay for a roll in the hay, you know?

Maybe you're over-thinking it a little. Never forget what it was like being in love all along the way before true love finally set in. It was all love. Practice runs if you will, but love. And wasn't it fun and reckless and wild and exciting? I know it was for me.

Well, times have changed. I imagine that the STD's have turned the "fun, reckless and wild and exciting" thing (dating different people) into a minefield

That said, it does not mean that the fun, reckless, wild, and exciting" moments end when true love sets in.

no, no that's not a good idea. Abandoning self control is not something I'm keen on doing. Most things I like to plan out. But hey, that's me.
