I got talking with a girl at my grocery store who seemed very interested in my job. She approached me a few times and I decided to ask her if she'd like to hang out. We agreed to go cycling sometime, and she asked for my number. I got a text message that same night. Here's what ensued:

Friday
Her: Hey, this is Jenny, how are you? (8pm)
Me: Hey, just arrived at my parents, going to a flea market tomorrow (8:45pm)
Her: Have fun (8:50pm)
Me. Dog threw up on my lap, maybe she was car sick? (9:15pm)
Her: Ew (9:20pm)
Her: Did you feed her chocolate? (9:25pm)
Me: No, when that happens you cant make her throw up no matter what, just pay the vet a slim $250 to do it! (11:35pm)
Her: Huh (12:00am)
Her: Night (12:30am)

Saturday
Her: Hey (2:00 pm)
Me: What the hell ya doin?! (7:00 pm)
Her: Watching movies with this guy I like (12:30am)

Sunday
Me: John C Reilly? I like that guy too (9:00 am)
Me: Well Im taking my bike home, just lemme know if you wanna go cycling sometime (12:50pm)
Me: FYI most of my messages are littered with sarcasm, in case you werent sure (1:00pm)
Her: Who huh (1:30pm)
Me: Er, what are we talking about now? :/ (2pm)
Me: So, uh, how was your weekend? (6pm)

It seems like she got bothered by something, but I don't get it. Now when I see her in the grocery store, I don't know what I'll do. Maybe I'll approach her and suggest that maybe there was some misinterpretation and that I'd still like to go cycling if she's interested. God, this is weird. I don't get why it's so hard to make friends.

She lost interest. You rambled on about a bunch of nonsense.

Well, the first few texts from you threw ME off. LOL Your second text telling her your dog threw up, really?? That was weird. The whole conversation just seems odd.

She was kept texting me about nothing. "Night," "Hey." I wanted her to actually say something.

I was being funny. I don't get how that could be misinterpreted.

Did you leave out some texts? You also need to have a conversation other than your dog got sick. I think that just threw her off completely with that.

this may or may not be news to you: but conversations can and do go haywire when texting or email is involved. You cannot hear the tones in that person's voice or any of those things. So....just pick up the phone and have a normal conversation to clear things up or whatever.

Then why did she say goodnight, and then continue to approach me the next day?

This is what I was thinking. If you want a more immediate response, calling is the way to go. I also don't know why you told her your dog threw up.

The "watching movies with a guy I like" message was a way to show she had lost interest. Sorry, man.
