First of all, I wanted to sign up for Tinder / Bumble or similar apps, and nowhere did it say there was a subscription price. I thought they were free because nothing was mentioned about any payment in iStore or on their sites. I download these apps, and all of a sudden they ask me for my credit card! I don't even know how much will be charged, this info just isn't publicly available, I searched everywhere!
Are any of you guys using Tinder and Bumble? Are these truly the mainstream choice now, or are people still using oldschool sites like Match or OkCupid?

I'm not sure what you're doing, but I've never randomly been asked for credit card information on any dating site or app. I do currently have a one-month Tinder Plus subscription that cost $20, but it was very clear to me that I was choosing to pay for a subscription and the app didn't just randomly make me do it.
So, right after you install one of these apps, you get this message:
"Before you can make purchases, you must tap Continue to verify your payment info" - I wasn't intending to purchase anything.
I never saw that message but maybe it was because I already had a credit card on file for iTunes, so even when I chose to purchase a Tinder subscription, I didn't have to enter in any credit card information.
Tinder, bumble etc. are free apps. I think you can pay to get an upgraded version but I don't know anyone who does that.
I use Tinder and OKC and it seems like most people on Tinder are looking for more casual arrangements/quick hookups, while the ones on OKC seem to be looking for something more serious/an actual relationship.
Often when I install an app, it asks if I want to register a credit card for payments. There is a skip option, so it's not required - and I don't put any credit card or other financial info into or through my phone as it's not secure enough IMO. Look again, and if you see the skip option, you're fine.
Never have. My husband and I met online, and often note that we're glad that we kind of hit the sweet spot of online dating...the older dating sites were established enough to be pretty commonly used and mainstream, and the hookup apps hadn't really taken off yet. We were on that cusp.
