I agree. People are just brainwashed to think that this is the key to happiness.

I am almost 35, no kids, don't plan to have any, don't plan to get married either. Although I would like to find the right one and live together.

I am enjoying my life also. I would say most of my friends are married and/or with kids and some divorced.

This time, the difference is that you are more responsible then back when you were 19 having fun.

You could still do those things while being married also with no kids.

Last Fri, I drove 3 hours to hook up with a friend in another state, we went to an electronic music concert, and we had a blast, we left the concert at 2 am, we hung out after and I drove back at 4 am, got here at 7 am.

Slept for a couple hours and went to a friends house for lunch and met some awesome people, I was so tired afterwards but this weekend was AMAZING! Essentially, I am doing some of the same "crazy things" I used to when I was 19 and I love it!

If I was married, obviously it would be impossible to do these things, but some of the thoughts that have been crossing my mind lately is that, I love this single lifestyle too much and maybe I don't want it to ever change!

Is it natural to feel this way at 35? I am more than convinced than doing what I want is what makes me happy but I wanted to hear some opinions

^^^ Fun isn't restricted just to singles. And I think a big distinction that people make is while it's okay to have fun at any age, there's something "off" about someone who is 35 trying to act 19 again instead of appreciating what life has to offer as a 35 year old. You can't go back.

What do you consider acting 19 though? There are 19 years old acting like 35.

To those who want to rain on this guy's parade - stop. I'm glad that he posted this, because it beats to usual crap whereby society puts pressure on people to get married by a certain age, have kids and generally conform. Be happy for this guy - his post would be inspiring to those who are finding it difficult to be alone or who have just gone through a divorce.

Good luck to you Repubocrat!

Not sure why anyone would need a legal contract and a license from the government; just to have a long term relationship. It's one hell of a lot less expensive to part, if one or both parties decide it's a "bum" deal.

Why can't you do that stuff when you're married?

You can spend a weekend with your friends doing fun things when you're married too (assuming you're married to someone cool) just probably not every weekend, which you probably don't do anyway.
