Devil's advocate here illustrating a greater point about the human condition. What did any of these guys have to gain from taking a bullet for their girlfriend?

I've actually roped in some good ones. I attract pretty good men.

Just weird to hear about someone actually taking a bullet. Good to know they're not all George Costanzas.

It's called being selfless. Good grief, not everyone does something for gain.

Agreed.

I couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the Veteran who threw himself over his children and survived despite being shot because the perps gun jammed. How frustrating to serve two tours only to come back and be shot in a movie theater. That selflessness helped him make the only appropriate decision.

Once again, my post was taken the wrong way. There are some who claim to act solely on logic and do everything they can to suppress their emotions. We wouldn't be inspired by people who only acted out of their own self interests or rational thought in a situation like this. What purpose does selflessness to the point of death serve if life had no greater meaning? Thread jack over. Don't want to gt over philosophical/quasi religious on folks who don't care about what I have to say.

In times like that, there is very little time to think, just react.

RIP to those guys.

I'm curious, to play devils advocate as well.

Should any man lay down his life to protect a woman, even one he barely knows?

There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends.
