Why wouldn't you? She knows 100% that child is hers, but you don't have that same privilege. If you take your partner's word for it and believe that child is yours just because she said so, then you're a goddamn fool. You're about to spend the next 18 years providing for that child, and you're not even going to check that it's yours?
Paternity tests would absolve a guy's fear of his partner's infidelity leading to spending money on a child that isn't there. However I see no absolving of a gal's fear of her partner's infidelity leading to spending money since guys could still cheat, have a love child, and money that was for both of them go to that child.
Just as long as you understand that you are going to deeply wound any woman who adores you and is now carrying your child, and likely end the relationship.
If we are talking about casual sex that results in pregnancy... okay, that I get.
But if my husband told me he wanted a paternity test for our kids, he'd get it. Via court proceedings. His (theoretical) insecurity about my (absolute) faithfulness is absurd, and does not justify the accusation of unfaithfulness.

I'm sure her poor little wound will heal quickly enough. Finding out after 18 years that a child isn't yours, however, is a wound that will never heal for a man. It's absolutely ridiculous that any woman expects a man to blindly accept her word and take that enormous risk. Women will always know for sure. A man can't until he gets that test. It's his right to know before he takes on that huge responsibility.
I agree that a paternity test is necessary. There are too many women lying to men about who is the father of their child. You just cant trust anyone anymore I guess.

What you're saying doesn't even make sense and it's not uneven.
When it comes to pregnancy, females basically have total control over everything and have numerous ways of getting out of a pregnancy (abortion, Plan B, birth control) whereas men do not, so at least with this, guys get to know if the kid really is theirs or not. Since guys aren't able to terminate pregnancies on their own and are more or less held hostage for 18 years when it comes to having a kid, it's more than fair that they be permitted to find out if they are the father.
As a side note, you chicks are the most ridiculous, hypocritical, and selfish bunch out here. Even if you're in control of a situation 85% of the time, you still have a problem with another group being in control the remaining 15% of the time. You want equal rights, but only in certain, select situations of your liking instead of across the board.
