My husband is not a good cook. He makes dinner about once every 2 months or so and it's something simple like spagetti or soup and sandwiches. I enjoy cooking and so I make dinner 98% of the time when I get home from work. I've become pretty good at menu planning. I come from a pretty traditional family. To me, my husband is pretty modern compared to my father, uncles and grandfather. To other women, my husband may seem really helpless.

My husband cooks frequently, and does ALL THE LAUNDRY...so I never starve, and I can always get dressed...

Gee, this reminds me, maybe I'd better "say thanks" tonight...hmmm...

Yes, of course I'd start dinner. It seems it'd be rather inconsiderate not to.

When I had (or if I have) family or a s.o., I cook(ed). All the time. Even if I worked full time, would have things defrosted and ready to start as soon as I got home. Or sometimeswould make several huge dishes over the weekend and freeze them for re-heating during the week. When I lived alone or with roomies, rarely cooked since it was just me. It doesnt matter to me who coks, but I prefer to.
Right now, my son-in-law takes over the kitchen when he gets home from work and he's an AWESOME cook!

haha... haha... oh wow. microwave steak and tomato pizza. yum!

I was raised in a rather traditional fashion myself, as well. I prefer to do the cooking. When I was "attached", he would fumble around asking if there was anything he could do to help. I gave him the little things to keep busy, peeling the potatoes, or chopping up the onions, etc.

We know that it is traditional to teach your daughter the ins and outs of the kitchen, but how many of you women or men, actually teach your son or sons to cook and fend for himself in the kitchen?

At the time of his high school graduation, I gave my son, Child Of Dad Who Cooks And Does Laundry, a notebook in which I'd written down all the recipes for his favorite meals. He cooked all through college, and is now a great cook! He also does laundry and cleans. He's living with us right now while saving money to buy a condo or house, and I'm not pushing him out... anytime soon!!!

Honestly, I tell my sons that they can't depend on a woman to be domesticated any more; so therefore, they better know how to do for themselves.
My boys knows all about cooking, cleaning and washing their clothes...from cleaning the skin off the chicken and washing it properly with vinegar or lemon juice prior to seasoning and cooking....to separating their laundry by colors and the temperatures to wash them in.
I know us women can get very vindictive when we are angry with our spouses or boyfriends..and I want to make sure my sons are prepared to cook and clean for themselves if they have to.
