My only regrets are from not following my brain.

No... I've been fairly lucky so far in life, no major regrets, a few minor ones, but I can live with them....

i never follow other peoples directions so i never have the problem to be honest....and why would i ?
i have my own internal compass and mind capable of weighing out the pros and cons before i act on something for this very reason

in the end its never the suggestion or other person that is to blame for these circumstances. YOU are the deciding factor on whether it happens or not.

I did, years ago. A friend of mine thought I was moving too slowly in a particular relationship. So I took his suggestion to try to escalate it. It didn't go very well. I wish I had done my own thing. In my own time. Not that it would have necessarily worked out or anything, but at least it would not have ended so badly I don't think.

Does anyone else have a similar experience?
I'd like to approach a balance of both.

Too much following of one's heart not only leads to disenchantment and disillusions, can also be easily delusional. Too much emphasis of following one's mind takes away from the whole process.

I've had situations where I said, "I wish I didn't follow my heart."

Happens. We can't always control outcomes pertaining to people or situations. We can only control how we react by being true to ourselves and putting things in perspective.

I had this situation years ago....and tried to be "logical". Big mistake.

90% of your happiness in life is determined by who you end up marrying. Don't mess it up.
