Slobs showing up for dates (dating, women, love, friends)

This is something I have experienced and so have friends of mine. They were chatting with this guy online and agree to meet. He shows up dirty and smelly. One of the guys I met had stringy long hair, he had horrible BO and bad breath, and his t shirt was stained. Friends have encountered this too.
Why would people (I assume women do this too)do this? wouldn't you want to make a good first impression? before meeting someone I shower, wash my hair, shave, and brush my teeth.

Probably or he's one of those guys who thinks women don't judge on looks. Either that or he's a guy who wonders why he can't find a date.
I can't go more than a day without taking a shower and smelling amazazing. So, if I had a date with a girl who reeked of BO and had really messy clothes I'd probably not stay very long
There's no excuse for this. If someone truly can't afford to take care of their hygiene then they shouldn't be dating. I know when I don't bathe I feel filthy. I am also super sensitive to smells.
Well, People like this are not likely just doing that when showing up for a date with neglect of hygiene and extreme lack of attention to appearance as it does not happen overnight. These may be indicative of larger problems such as depression and possible substance abuse or something related. Some people may dress frumpy but being filthy goes a lot deeper. The factor here is them talking initially online, Where they are not face to face. I would probably bet if they were approached by those men being unclean they would not have agreed to meet. Online, There is no way of knowing these things through a computer screen.
Being clean, Neat and presentable should be practiced by everyone when going out looking to meet others and has impact on the work life as well. Pay attention to your appearance, And others pay attention to you. Not counting of course walking the dog, running out for coffee etc. You know.
If they look like this in public, I bet their homes are 10x worse!
