Yeah, I get it. The difference is I'm better at ignoring. You're engaging them when you respond. If they constantly kept writing despite my not responding, then I'd either put them on ignore or I might tell a mod depending on the content of the message.
Agreed. What a waste of time to engage. Some people don't know that negative attention is better than none for those kind of pests.
OP, you sound nice.... Do you think maybe too nice? But maybe I am just jaded. I can immediately cut people off online and IRL if interaction feels inappropriate and crosses boundaries. It sounds like you give 2nd chances, maybe want to help people "fix" their problems, or maybe want to teach them to show respect towards you and others?
Those can be noble goals but with some of the "personalities" in this world, this may result in you being "very uncomfortable" unless you have developed a thick skin / analytical response (e.g. like maybe a mental health counselor). I think many can avoid being "uncomfortable" by using the ignore feature and completely disengaging from people like this.
I didn't think I was being "too nice" by giving people a chance to correct what might've been a mistake or a misinterpretation, but maybe you're right. My online "skin" isn't as thick as it probably should be. I haven't had to use the "ignore"/"block" feature yet and hopefully I won't ever have to. But, if the situation calls for it, then I guess I will.
For you men participating in this behavior, I'm very disappointed in you. Too darn lazy to seek out a good optometrist in your area, it's beyond disgusting.
To make it clear, there's nothing wrong with guys who wish to engage in sleazy and disrespectful sexual banter with female posters on here who welcome it and who ENJOY reciprocating.
However, it IS wrong for men to do this and to keep doing it when women politely (or sternly) tell them that they DON'T like it and ask them to please STOP doing it. It's a matter of guys respecting a woman when she says "No".
Thanks for everyone who has replied to my thread. I now know the mentality of the majority of the guys who post here.
