Thanks for all the replies. I suppose English being my second language, i simply saw the term "dating" as all interractions prior to being engaged. I see the consensus is on her side, and ill take that into consideration. I will now use the term "relationshipping" going forward =)
first... whoa you are moving in with someone! wow I really have been inactive here lately. anyway congrats
the best thing is that to say she is your girlfriend. there's no good word that falls between between dating and engaged, but you can also say something like "we're in a long term relationship". that sounds nicer
there's nothing wrong with the word dating really, but as other people pointed out, if you did say "current" that's a big no-no

good luck man
Thank You! And yes, for the most part the only reason id use a word like dating, because in a short and quick conversation, it seems easier to word it, rather than saying im in a relationship with. If relationshipping was an actual word, id use that instead.

Why can't you just change the sentence structure to "My girlfriend..."?
The word "dating" implies a level of casualness that isn't really appropriate if you've been together 8 months and about to move in together. I think your GF is right to be concerned.
I totally agree with the above...OP may be dating, but he's dating his girlfriend.
