How many forms of birth control should be used?

One?
Two?
Three?
Four or more?

Or should the two people stay abstain from having sex?

Too often you see a scenario where a woman gets pregnant and at least one person in the relationship does not want to deal with a baby or a have a committed relationship with the other person. The risks for a pregnancy due to any one sexual intercourse is low, but due to the simple law of LARGE NUMBERS means that somebody out there is getting involved in a pregnancy they did not want to involve themselves in.

...The more layers of birth control, the more security, however, some methods of birth control take away the pleasure from sex.

It's not preferable, but it is a necessity for many.

And doesn't protect against STD's. We're not talking fully committed relationships here right? And do you trust the woman to take the pill the same time everyday without missing?

Unless you've been with her long enough to see how good she is at remembering her pill, if I were a man, I wouldn't just trust another person to take meds. The risk of ending up a Daddy are too high. I would think aside from STD's every man would WANT to use condoms given they can make sure the BC is being used properly.

But there are MILLIONS of fertile people having sex, so again, law of large numbers.

...Oh, and women can lie about taking the pill and forget it. So it's not a sure thing, at least on the man's side anyways...

How any times do Dr's and pharmacists forget to mention that anti-biotics make hormonal birth control less effective? Most women know this, problem is a lot don't. A lot of women don't take it the same time every day. Being on parenting (primarily mothers) boards of the last 8 years, I've been shocked by how freaking little so many women knew about their own fertility. And guys just trust them with birth control! If in doubt, use a condom! Don't just assume she knows what she's doing. It's your fertility too. Take charge of it.

Don't have sex with a woman you don't trust.

I don't want to sound paranoid, but trust can be broken.
