There were clearly a lot of other vacant seats. Perhaps I looked the least intimidating out of everyone? She looked like she might be friendly, but after a few minutes she put her headphones in and started playing with her phone.
Suppose I opened a conversation with her. What should I have said?
And "hi" (or a nod "hello") and a warm, genuine but small smile would have broken the ice. And then immediately follow that with a general comment about a book she was carrying, something generic about your surroundings, etc. would have been an easy conversation starter.
What I do is I find something she is carrying or wearing and use that to start a conversation. If you can carry on a conversation, get her number. Say, "I'm coming up to my stop, but I would love to continue this discussion over coffee. Let me call you later so we can set it up." I'd get her number and get off the train, but not before looking back, waving and smiling to her.
Notice that I did not ask for her number; I assumed the sale. It's amazing how much sales tactics work in everyday situations.
A hot woman's hand brushed up against my forearm today. It was so erotic, I nearly made a mess of my boxers. Needless to say, I'm never washing my arm again!!!

hahaha! Very funny, and smooth-sounding, until you stop and think. If someone said that to me, I'd say, "How are you going to get my number?"
Ever the logician. You can't win. I prefer the direct approach. And if you did ask me for my number, I might say, "Why don't you give me yours?"
You probably hate customers like me in your business.
I don't consider myself "hot" however I wouldn't hook up with a guy I sat next to on a train or bus. That's just me.
Why is that? Before you answer that define "hook up." Do you mean a quick fling? Maybe something a little more substantial?
Now, why wouldn't you "hook up" with someone on a train or a bus? Would you do so with someone you met at a grocery store, library, sporting event, etc? Do you just not take any risks with folks you don't really know, even if that risk is just giving out your phone number?
