When women say stuff like, "The only way I could get a date is to lower my standards" don't you think it is an admission that perhaps their standards were too high in the first place? Women who have made this complaint, have you thought critically about this statement? Did you have an unrealistic ideal in mind before reality hit?

It's possible. It depends on your schedule. The longer you wait, the more likely you'll find someone who better aligns with what you want. Anybody can find somebody soon if they lower their standards enough.
I never had "standards." I met people, I liked them, they liked me, and that was that! Some of them I was attracted to right away. Others grew on me. I dated a lot of awesome guys and I married the best one of all!
I really don't think of standards or leagues when I meet someone. There either is an attraction or there isn't. I am assuming you are talking about looks.
I dont think their standards are too high per se, but perhaps their view of reality is heavily skewed. When you think that 80% of men are below average looking, chances are you have no idea what average means.

Who actually says that? I don't know anyone who has ever said that. I think it's more of a discussion forum phenomenon. It exists in theory, but not so much in practice.
While sometimes it really is a lowering of standards, usually it is getting more realistic.
That's pretty true. I've got some basic standards, but I don't consider them unrealistic to the point where a guy who meets those standards doesn't exist.
