I think it would be more interesting to discuss what people say in actual relationships. For example:
"I just need some time to think."
"I just need some space."
"Let's just take a break for a while."
"I just need to focus more on my career right now"
"I just need to focus more on school right now."
"I think I need to be single for a while."
All of these mean the same thing: "I've met someone else and I am dumping you, but am too chiceknsh*t to say so openly."
