Arrange to meet him at a convenient public place, restaurant, movie theater. etc.! If the problem is that you don't have a vehicle, make it somewhere on the bus line or whatever and arrange for your tranportation back home in advance whether it be via public transportation or taxi. It's NEVER a good idea to have a virtual stranger pick you up at your place and there's nothing unusual in your calling the shots in this regard. He may well be just being polite in offering to pick you up but you don't have to accept anything you're not comfortable with and there's no reason to feel obliged to give him an explanation. Just say you'll meet him there. Cheers and hope you enjoy the date!

I always say, "I'd prefer to meet in a public place." And then shut your mouth and wait for a response. He should say something like, "Okay, no problem." If he tries to make you feel guilty or gives you a hard time, then you don't go out with him. It's that simple.

Never do anything you're not comfortable with. I never tell a man I don't know well where I live. I also don't let a strange man in my car.
