As I Fold His Tiny Pants And Weep: Living With (And Loving) A Man Much Smaller Than Me | xoJane

Wow. I didn't know that dating a short guy was such a monumental tragedy. Read some of the comments.

don't feel bad, xojane is all militant feminists. and not only is the author fat, but she's from cleveland.

note from her bio: "she writes about body-positivity, self-love, and fashion on Instagram."

Clearly, "body-positivity" only applies to her fellow fatties.

The woman holding it is fat. Can she fix that before bitching?

Also, it's the short ones who are mean about this.

Women 5 9 and over have fabulous personalities. I really think they are extremely down to earth and some don't even mind going out with a shorter man. My girlfriend is 5 9.5 and that's the same as I am. And she had no problem with the Duchamp Dude.

However, I have had some women as short as 5 1 tell me that I am short and that 6 is a good height for them. Bizarro.

Actually, I think she's using a sort of writers hyperbole to admit that although social norms subconsciously and consciously bother her, she throws them aside because she enjoys the man as a partner.

Writers need to sensationalize to survive. I'd probably have some similar thoughts if I was dating somebody that was much taller, but I don't care what society says. Of course, I wouldn't publish an article telling my girlfriend how 'subconsciously I am embarrassed of her height' but I'm not a writer.

I respect the fact that she would date a smaller man, not many women would. I don't really respect her personality trait of airing her insecurities at the expense of her boyfriend's feelings, but I understand it.

I think tall and overweight women are pretty much the equivalent of short men in society. Shame, because it's just so odd for them to get together. Society really is a cruel S.O.B.

Not uncommon. Several female friends of mine that are under 5'5" won't date under 6' guys. I don't get it, but whatever, I don't have to.

i'm reading other articles on this site, and the comments, etc.

it's funny to me how you have a bunch of feminist women who will verbally accost you for, you know, saying anything about a woman's body (positively or negatively)

but you read the comments and they'll go 40, 50 comments-deep , going into explicit detail about men's bodies, and what they find attractive, unattractive, acceptable and unacceptable, and this never seems to cross anyone's mind.
