This thread has got me wondering how acceptable this would be for guys who don't have a lot of disposable income. https://www.city-data.com/forum/relat...-no-money.html

So is it acceptable to do this or considered cheap? Forget about doing the free things or going for coffee, is it okay using a 2 for 1 coupon on a first dinner date?

No this is not a subtle stab at women but an honest question for guys who don't make a lot of money.

I think is quite alright and a practical thing to do if that's your situation.
If the date objects explain that you could always go dutch.

Thing is if your date is all about money it's better she know on the front end that you are either frugal or just without "disposable income".

In the future you can always just meet up for coffee and desert.

Honestly,

If a guy pulled out a coupon on our first dinner-date, I'd offer to go dutch, and call it a night. And, be done.

I'm broke myself, but I don't wanna look tacky with a "2 for 1" coupon deal on my date. Looks tasteless.

I don't mind. I like it actually coz I won't feel guilty. I dated a guy like that. I called him the group on coupon guy. He is the cheapest guy I dated. But his cheapness is really extreme. And I am frugal myself. But I myself was turned off by his cheapness. So that's saying something.

Define "coupon". I don't know too many restaurants that take coupons.

When the hubs and I go out, we do a "2 for $20" sometimes, and I have no problem with it.

Our first date was in a bookstore, where we just sat in the coffee shop and talked for hours.

Normally, I'm the one who wants to cook at home because it's healthier and less expensive.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Who cares how the meal is paid for.
