I’m a 5’5″ (165 cm) tall, male. That is, I’m five inches shorter than your average American man who checks in at 5’10. Average Joe towers over me and a good chunk of the US female population does too.
Mod cut: Per TOS can only excerpt a couple sentences from an article.
5'5" isn't short. Most people around the world are closer to this height. The 5'10" is a weird European-descendant thing, and inefficient/unnecesary. Why does anyone need to be that tall?
Anyway, it lets you lift more when you're shorter (particularly squats). But also any loads, since you're more likely to only need to use your quads

Are you a man or woman?
5'5" is really short anywhere.
There are a few countries where that is the average male height or even taller. Those are typically poor Asian and African countries. In Asian countries, the last generation of men was about 5'5" or even shorter. But the new generation of men is taller.
I do think the emphasis on male height is a relatively new thing. Every woman the world over now wants tall men when I think previously it was a Western thing. Even in those poor and Asian countries.
Regardless, being 5'5" takes you out of the running for most women.
Okay, well the following paragraph is a relevant comment, not the article itself:
Want to look cool getting out of a car? Get a nice sports car that sits lower to the ground. And if you want to see what a baby giraffe looks like standing up for the first time loan said car to your 6' buddy.
