Trying to do something romantic for Christmas but money is tight. I went through Pinterest but haven't found anything exciting. I want something that will wow her but something that doesn't break the bank I can make. I want it DIY to show I'm willing to commit time and energy as well.

One year I got these small boxes which a ring box would fit into. Each one represented some basic necessities and they were Love, Laughter, Luck and Hope. For example, for Luck I went and got a poker chip from the casino in one - Love and Laughter - well, that is personal to the people giving and receiving and would never be the same for everyone - that you have to figure out.

Now, I did this for a guy and he loved it. I would love the thought and energy put into something like this.

One year a guy I was dating took this little miniature Christmas tree and put a whole string of regular white tree lights in it - that took some doing and he left it on my counter top with a whole nativity scene too like sheep made from cotton balls. It was funny and sweet.

Now I love doing stuff like this - things that require real creativity. If I knew more about the two of you and your interests I could probably come up with more. I'm working on a DIY present for my brother and his wife this year. Please feel free to DM me with more details and we'll see what we can cook up.

Build a beautiful frame for a photo of the two of you or create a collage of special photos, movie tickets, menus from restaurants you enjoyed, etc.

Build her a charming birdhouse.

Assemble an attractive basket of fragrant soaps, lotion, and other luxurious items.

Build a plant stand, small decorative shelf, a footstool, or something she'll like.

You're running out of time!

Here's what I did for my sweetie: Make a scrapbook that hits the milestones in your relationship. Get a menu or napkin from the place you had your first date. Mementos from your first trip together. Gather memorabilia from the important things in your relationship. Mine included the fortune from a fortune cookie that said an unexpected relationship would become permanent. Even printouts of text message exchanges, if you have them. Add a few photos, some scrapbook stickers with hearts & romantic stuff. She'll love it.

take her for some boudoir pictures- make sure the photographers son isnt around...

if money is tight,,,make up some " activity gift certificates" on the computer, put different ones in different cards- one could be a full body massage... use your imagination, one could be her favorite restaurant, one could be going hiking,,swimming,,whatever she likes to do
