My son has blonde hair and blue eyes & is super cute. I can't count how many times guys approach him to say cute kid then end up hitting on me & saying he must get his looks from his mama. Keep in mind he is adopted & I don't know his blood from Lazarus!

Well it's 11 days before 2014 & I'm only focussed on my husband so I ignore them. But has this happened to anyone else? That young cute kids draw potential spouses to one's life?

Yes. Your son does sound adorable! I can see why people like to talk to you because of him.

I give people with cute kids compliments all the time.

I've never once heard of or seen a dude hitting on a woman specifically because she had a kid. I suppose it could be used as an ice breaker as you seemed to indicate.

Women sure use it as icebreakers to approach men! Single/divorced dads generally know that having a cute kid with you makes you a chick-magnet!

I've heard of it with dogs, not so much with kids....

Same here. I would never use a kid to hit on a woman, nor have I even heard of it either.

So true. I took a friends daughter to the grocery store once... wow. I told my friend I needed to borrow his daughter more often.

like charlie said on "two and a half men"

kids are better than dogs...

take it as a compliment....

men cant be honest, its not socially acceptable....

since they cant easily approach you and say how nice you look,,or they'd like to ask you out ....they make some small innocent comment on your kid,,to gauge a response from you

although, also keep this in mind,,,,i worked with a couple men who lost their kids,,,to cancer and an accident,,,,and after that ..kids were the only thing that could make him smile,,,,,,, he would tell me,,,, a kids laughter is music to the gods
so he would go out of his way to be kind to kids,,,,,which unfortunately,,,,is now "creepy" in todays world

That is a shame, mainebrokerman. A lot of older men are not close to their families and may miss their own kids and grandkids, so when they see a cute little kid they can't help but comment.

I have three boys, and when they were little lots of men would make comments to me about them in public, but they definitely were not hitting on me.

It was more of a, "Good job!" kind of tip of the hat, as if I'd done my husband some favor in carrying on the family name three times. I remember one time an older man said, "Wow, look at all those boys. Your husband struck gold with you, didn't he?"

Surprising, yes. A generational thing? Yes. Definitely not a come-on.
