Yes, it's perfectly acceptable. You can drink a soft drink, ice tea, orange juice or whatever you want. You're not obligated to drink alcohol at all.

Asians often lack the gene for metabolising alcohol.

They can feel the effects after a sip.

For this reason most I know either don't drink at all or very little.

What specific alcohol metabolizing gene are you referring to that only Asians lack?

My relatives can drink a gallon of alcohol/gasoline and not even get tipsy, let alone get shiit faced.

What ? Asians can't drink ? I am astonished by that idea lol I'm asian as well and I know what your saying. I turn red no matter how many I drink , 1 beer or 10 shots , I turn red. Easily mistake by people assuming we can't handle the alcohol

I am not Asian at all, but have some Native American in me. I can handle alcohol ok, but I do get that red flush occasionally. I finally found out that it's one of the ingredients in the wine or liquor that does it, not the alcohol itself.

I'm sorry I have forgotten which ingredient, but a search on the subject ought to do ya.

I have this same issue (and I am not Asian). Only wine does it to me though. And it's not getting drunk or anything like that, you just take a few sips of wine and suddenly you are blushing. Is it all alcohol Op or just certain types like Joan mentioned?

Overall, as far as women caring, some will and some won't. But if it bothers you, then you might want to avoid alcohol while dating. At least in the beginning anyway (when you find a woman you click with, then you can find out what she thinks about it).

It's all alcohol for me -- although wine causes a harsher reaction in me, from what I've been able to notice.

Fair enough. This seems like the most common (and prudent) piece of advice so far.

I'm a woman and the same thing happens to me. It's one reason I don't like to drink(not the redness, but I don't like how hot my face feels!).
