Just say no? I don't know what else - dress like a total slob, don't shave, take your kids with you everywhere (borrow someone else's if you don't have any) - works for me!

You stand up like a mature adult and tell them NO, you are not interested now and never will be interested and you move on.
Why would you even have to ask this question and why would you even consider telling them a lie or bringing someone else into the situation to "intervene" for you? If you cannot do it yourself you need to learn to stand up for yourself.
