Our cell phones, all the social sites, we all have the ability of constant contact with so many people.
Sometimes I wish we didn't have all this stuff. To me it seems like it makes it harder when I first start a relationship

It can be a benefit or detriment depending on how it is used.

It all depends on the people using the technology.
Like anything else, when it's abused rather than used prudently it can make life "harder", sure.
It's good and bad without it we may never have met certain people. With it we have more to choose from.Privacy lost a bit.Easy access yet more confusion can occur with communication.
Makes it better or worse ? It's not solely one way or the other-I'd say both. Maybe it's "a wash", on average.
It leads to neglect & atrophy in some areas/activities, hyperfocus & obsessiveness in other areas/activities.
It helps people connect (who might otherwise never have a conversation) across the globe,
yet can interfere with people connecting (with each other) who are all sitting in the same room.
Similar (concerns/reservations) have been said of many technologies & cultural behaviors in past,
when they were new & unfamiliar-such as the use of motorcars, telephones, printed personal ads.
Yet those innovations have helped to extend a larger social life (among other things)
to more people than before those novel behavioral norms (and the tools that allowed for them) took hold.
It can be a benefit or detriment depending on how it is used.
If you feel it is too much, disconnect a little.
absolutely right!! i dont do facebook, twitter, or any other social sites. as far as i am concerned they just get in the way. cellphones are nice to have though, and the ability to text instead of having the phone to your ear all the time is also good. but to rely on these things as heavily as some people do is detrimental.
I must have missed it . add a link to this thread.
