One of the biggest down sides I see is people getting way less done at work because they are so distracted trying to keep up with all the social sites and friends/ family texting.

I would say better. People have more chance to see who people really are and more opportunity to catch things that are not cool by your partner. That aspect alone makes technology a net good for relationships.

It stunts the growth of a lot of young guys who stay at home play video games and post on online forums instead of going out and actually meeting/interacting with women on a daily basis.
