From this guy's pov, touching might be a bit forward, right off the bat.
I might be on my guard as a result.
If I smile and a smile is returned , and she hold's the view, I may attempt conversation to see if she is busy, and I do not place any hope in making more of the encounter than that.
IF she has something to say , I will give her the polite attention strangers deserve ,until I know she want's to have some more conversation .
This gives her the freedom to bail out, and not feel stalked if she is not interested.
Touching happens well into the conversation, not the first few minutes. You already need some rapport. It is somewhere after smiling and moving in closer!
Hmmm… Most of the time, I'm not really thinking about it. I guess I probably touch the person - on their forearm and such - but mostly, I think it's my conversation that is flirtatious. I laugh a lot and I like to make others laugh. I try to keep the conversation lighthearted and fun. Lots of laughter.
I think some people consciously flirt and others just do it unintentionally. My friends always called me a flirt even though I wasn't doing anything on purpose. And in my defense - I think I'm probably just as flirtatious with men as I am with women! I'm bubbly, I like to laugh and crack jokes a lot, and I can be touchy feely.

Yup! Same here. I had to pick the more intentional stuff vs normal behavior.
Flirting is fairly bad in my book even if women mean no harm because women who do it, do it all the time subconsciously as part of their persona, and often to men they no interest in. Not all women flirt.
It's pretty much the equivalent of some handsome guy taking aside some fat, ugly chick and telling her how cool and funny she is and touching her knee and gently touching her arm.
Of course, I'm immune to signals and flirting, but it can really lasso young guys into falling hard for women who have no interest in them.
