Wow. So my friend dated this girl for a few months and they never got exclusive and he wasn't that into her and ended it, but I secretly had a huge crush on her. He even actually admitted that she seemed like my type. It is rare for me to feel such a connection (with physical attraction) with a girl when I talked to her. I can count the times I felt this way on one hand!

Well they just broke up and I think we just mutually "liked" each other on a dating website. I'm 90% sure its her, and she would know it was me based on the photos. I'm kind of in shock and surprised/excited! What is the etiquette in this situation? Do I let my friend know if I ask her out?? Is it appropriate?? Has anyone been in the same situation? Never been in a situation like this before.

Just message her.

Personally, I don't date my buddies casuals.

It is bad form, but if you really like this girl you can ask your friend if he'd be okay with it. You say they "just" broke up, so it still might be too soon.

Yea, I had that situation when I was a teen. At the time, I couldn't get myself to be serious with her knowing my good friend had already been with her (if you know what I mean).

Go for it. They weren't exclusive so they didn't even technically "break up."

If you really want her....do it.

I am not the type to go for "seconds." Sorry if that sounds harsh.....
