In my opinion, looks are not the main reason why men age 25+ will often go after women who are college-age. The number of attractive women who are 30 years old is equal, if not greater, than the number of attractive women who are 20 years. The differences are that
(1) The available 20-yr-old women are greater in number.
(2) Women who are not yet established in their careers are easier to impress.
Hmm. I thought this thread was going to be about men over 40 chasing after women under 40 instead of women their own age. That would've been far more interesting, even if it's already been discussed plenty of times before.

There's a zillion reasons why "men" do the things they do, because they vary depending on the individual. While I wouldn't necessarily agree with all of your points, they apply to some men, as do many more points that went unmentioned.
I chat up women of all ages, sometimes they happen to be in the college age group, and they are frequently more relaxed and less uptight than women closer to my age and I find this very appealing. It helps that I look significantly younger and I'm in good shape.
Younger women, in general, look better physically, they have no/fewer children then older women do.
Per my previous post, I'd submit that this reasoning is more popular than some of the other ones, but as I mentioned...there are lots of reasons, of which these are two.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Men who are 25-years-old are only 2-3 years older than collage-age themselves (or they are still collage aged if they are going for an advanced degree). As far as age difference goes, that's nothing. Even men who are 30 are only a 7 or so year difference. Although the older a man gets, the less appealing he'd be to most younger women (you get thought of as an "old man" at some point, even if you aren't. I think men reach that threshold when they are closer to a woman's dad's age than their age. Still, there are some who like older guys, we all have different tastes).
The only time I would see the age differences like that getting in the way of things is if the woman is under 21 and can't drink (kind of puts a damper on things I would think when your date can't enjoy a glass of wine with you in a restaurant or champagne at midnight on New Years or something... then again, if the guy doesn't drink, it's a non-issue). And yeah, the men looking for women 20 years their junior has been done to death too. What we need is why cougars go after cubs/cubs after cougars thread (but I can't start one because I don't get it since I tend to like men about my age or older).

Younger women are more likely to be fit, single, have less baggage, and might be easier to impress. How's that?
