I was curious how long after you started dating did you bring up the topic of having kids down the road?

As I recall, there is a difference between talking about having kids in general, and specifically having kids with the other person.

When I met my husband, we talked about lots of dreams and ambitions, including the fact that we wanted kids. We dated for four more years before we got married and it was 4 years after that we had a child. It wasn't like the general topic of kids was pressuring him.

We were in our 20s. Doesn't everyone think about having kids someday?

With this girl she talked about having kids specifically with me while it's been just over a month we are both thinking long term, and she's very serious which is a big change given the other women I have dated/talked to.

I think it came up on our first or second date. If you want kids, as we both did, and you are 35 and 40, as we were, there's no real point in putting that discussion off, so if people are on different pages, you can shake hands and move on without spending a lot of Time with an important potential dealbreaker just sitting out there.

Once we started getting serious we talked about it. We were young and neither one of was sure if we wanted kids in the future, so it was important to us that both of us being able to go either way when it came to having kids or not.

First H, gosh, weeks? We both wanted kids, though we were fairly young.

Second, current husband, maybe second or third conversation. I wanted to know if he wanted children since his profile said undecided. I discovered he did want at least one child, but was skeptical it would ever happen. I knew I wanted at least one more.

OP, you don't have much say in what you get unless you do certain things like swaying and other TTC methods to increase one's chances for a specific sex. Even then there's no guarantee.
