I think when you're dead is probably about the only time you can be "virtually" gone from the market.

It's not over til it's over......

Well, I would say the sorority types are gone after college age since sororities are a college. The women are still around, but the way they interact with the world changes I would think.

Girl next door types are always around, same with smart motivated types. Why would they "go away" or their personalities just change? They aren't carried away by aliens. Granted, some might get married but others might not. And granted once they get married, your shot with them is slim to none (people aren't divorcing like they used to, the divorce rate is dropping every year). But keep in mind people aren't marrying like they used to either and a lot of people opt to never get married. And if you are thinking, "well, a lot of them are married and aren't available to me." Just remember their pool of available men is smaller too because it's mostly men marrying those women "off the market." So things are still pretty much the same in regards to ratios of single men to single women--AKA the single women are in the same boat as the single men.

I agree and the thing that sort of scares me is that the OP is in his 40's if I recall correctly..... this kind of thinking in more in the realm of what a 22 yr old kid would say.

It's never too old to enjoy life, to do whatever, older people get together, life has no expiration tag, only when you time is due, and that's about it........

That's how I'm approaching my life and I think that ain't a bad way to view things.

This putting things into boxes and labeling and categorizing and all of that is fine for shoes, but not for humans........

They're never "gone from the market" as such - every day girls turn 18 or 21 or whatever, after all - but the "sorority types" will definitely become out of your reach quickly once you get past college. Sure, you might occasionally get lucky past your mid 20s and snag one or two, but that's the exception.

The next-door and smart, motivated types exist in all age brackets and demographics, so they're technically always available to you.
