like i said i know he isnt special forces, he is too young, and would have at most three years in. however i dont know if he is a marine or not because i have never met him in person. as noted in a previous post, anyone can hit the surplus stores and pick up everything they need to be a poser.

in the end a real service person shows it by their actions, not their words.

He's using the reputation of others (MARSOC) as well as a legitimate mental issue the military faces (PTSD) for his own personal gain. It's pretty shameful, really, especially if he's actually a Marine.

It's not unheard of for Marines to "embellish" their accomplishments to impress outsiders. The way these guys get caught are actually quite comical.

In many ways I hope OP's "Marine" is actually some clown in his mother's basement instead of an actual Marine. We get our fair share of idiots, but an actual Marine should know better than to conduct himself the way OP described. Some civilian idiot in his mother's basement...maybe not so much.

PTSD is a VERY often , misunderstood thing. I've been through it, not from combat related things, because of a severe trauma. Mine was a fairly light case, in comparison to some, but, when your going through it you don't tend to want to talk about what put you in that state. Triggering those memories is not something one does on purpose. As you say, as well, combat specialists are a bit more hardened to things that would cause PTSD in average people. The training alone tends to weed out those who would be susceptible to it.

Mod cut.

Anyone can get and can have PTSD.......

Is this guy a U.S. Marine? He probably indeed is.

Is he MARSOC? Unless he joined at age 17 and has been enlisted at least three years and holds a rank of E4 to E5, no he cannot be MARSOC. No Staff Sargents are currently being accepted at the present time either.

Have a great evening!

Since there is virtually no current issue surplus out there for sale, I don't think so. If you call 1980's and older vintage junk like canteens, MREs and such noteworthy of mentioning it would. If he's got any of the good stuff or even a Ontario OKC3S it's highly unlikely. Sportsmans Guide doesn't even sell those. Posers don't purchase $4,000 pistols usually either.

I think the guy who is still into Star Wars and comics doesn't know what he is talking about.

Negative!

From now until the day you die EVERY U.S. Marine is your brother. You may not know him or her, or even know their name. When the time comes you will render any hand needed to help without giving a second thought.

This Bill guy did not do that!

John Adams lied about his age at 16 to join the Marines.

Scott Helveston was the youngest man to complete the U.S. Navy SEAL training program at age 17.

The man in question could very well be legit.
