The Ashley Madison hack exposed the data of some 37 million customers. 37 million is a staggering number! I just can't fathom how there can be so many cheaters in the world.

Here are more details on the Ashley Madison breach:

That website is just scratching the surface. I believe, most people have had infidelity affect their life at one point.

Affairs, in most cases, is a safety net for a marriage going bad.

Wake up then. Many of those are psychopaths who work for the gubmint. Heck, it seems like Tony Blair is on the list, too.

Unfortunately lots of desperate guys (gay and not) and escorts who just probably found themselves emailing bots and left pretty quickly.

I am not surprised that reporters are paying massive attention to this story ... and to be honest, even I am worried that my past personal data will be leaked. I was a "cautious" user of Ashley Madison at first ... it was evident that the overwhelming majority of users were men, and I think that the website itself may have been intentionally polluted with fake female ads to lure in more guys. I got the impression from online forums before I joined the site that Ashley Madison has an equal number of married and single male members — the single guys, of course, just being opportunistic.

After exchanging messages with three different individuals, I finally had a "hookup." Interesting to note that the first person I messaged with turned out to be a gay guy, the second was a prostitute, and the third one got the jitters before we ever graduated to personal email [or] phone calls.

Just like chemotherapy is an option for someone that has cancer. Once a marriage has gone bad / has cancer, affairs are like chemo, and they don't always work in terms of fixing the marriage if the cancer has already spread too much

I was really expecting "hypergamy" as your answer but I like your cancer analogy.

My husband told me I am naive as to how many couples have affairs, and he is probably right. I just don't understand risking everything with your partner for some strange.

I try to guard against it and hope I'm never in the position to want to stray from my marriage.

Unfortunately, because they're stupid and think they won't get caught and because they feel entitled to do so.
