Is it really necessary to text a girl you are talking to every day? I have been on 3 dates with this girl and we will see each other 3-4 times a week. We don't text a whole lot. I see some people text every day and I'm just like damn.

If I have a funny story or something interesting to say I'll text her, but I never say stuff like "hey" "whats up" "nothing im bored"

That just looks dumb. I'll send a "hope your day is going well text" but i dont expect her to reply back and have a full blown conversation.

Anyone think texting every day is dumb?

I think there are people that love to text all freaking day, people that just find it to be mostly a bother, people that don't text at all, and all sorts of people in between. Lots of people don't even know how to carry on a conversation on the phone because they want to just text everything. Others...prefer a real voice.

Differences. Just a fact of life.

I don't like texting much because it's devoid of emotion, but I came of age before cell phones, even before pagers--gasp, I know. We talked on the phone a lot. If you don't have much to say to one another when you're not physically together, that doesn't seem like a lot of interest to me. How you convey and sustain that interest is up to you.

I think texting instead of a real conversation is dumb.

If there is nothing to say, then yes.
Texting silly stuff is... silly, immature, needy and obnoxious...
I don't have time for that.

You need your space or you are worried about looking clingy?

We text every day, but not ALL day.

I usually text boring stuff like, "I'm going to cut grass," so if he doesn't get a response, he won't think I've fallen down a flight of stairs.

Couples just have to find balance in regard to texting just like everything else. If you can't find balance then maybe you aren't compatible.

If you text her a "good morning, have a nice day" and a "good night", that doesn't leave you - like - enough space?
