Are men and women both equally to blame for the way that dating has gone downhill in the last couple of decades?

Has dating gone downhill? It's a bit subjective isn't it?

Personally I think dating hasn't changed much. There have always been people who struggle where others don't. You make your own fortune sometimes.

It's called get out and social. If I'm a hermit I don't meet people.

I love these broad questions.

How, exactly, has dating gone downhill?

Dating had only gone downhill for those embittered souls who are too afraid of their own shadows to take the initiative to actually ask people out in person, instead of stalking them on Facebook, coming on forums and asking if a co-worker has the hots for them, or texting 24/7 instead of talking to each other.

Life is what you make of it.

Neither.... Things are in flux and changing quickly (gender roles, technology, etc). People (both male and female) are trying to find ways to adjust with the times and naturally some will struggle.

This. OP may be one of the "The 1950s was the perfect time for dating and couples, blah, blah, blah."/ posters who complain about his lack of success in the dating world because of online dating, social media, hypergamy, and evil feminism.
