Why do some in society still think this is acceptable? Why the double standard? If hitting a woman is not ok, then why do we think that slapping a man's face is ok? I see this underlying thinking in some women to think that when a man does something to irritate her, it becomes ok to do this. My older sister engaged in this crappy behavior with her husbands in standard marriage arguments. I will dump a woman I'm dating on the spot if she pulls this crap. Leave her sitting in a restaraunt by herself if necessary....that is a dump on the spot moment for me. I let women know this up front early when dating. I call it boundary setting.

I've never seen a woman slap a man's face in the real world. Happens on TV all the time, but then... so do zombies.
I know the difference between make-believe and what actually happens.
I agree with the above - neither partner should slap the other. I have certainly never slapped / hit any of mine. I agree / hope it is more common on TV than in "real life" but to the OP's point it often is portrayed as OK on TV. Which isn't OK.

Women throw drinks in men's faces on TV a lot, too, which I've never seen in real life, either.
I can't say that I've never been tempted to smack someone in the face, but I'm a civilized person and know better.
