I think your concerns are coming from a good place, but at 74 you should probably let your mother make her own choices

I would be worried, only if the 91 year old person was not in good health. At your mom's age, in her 70s, it's going to be physically difficult and demanding to be a caretaker to an elderly person. Just be sure he isn't looking for someone to play "nursemaid" and if that's not the case, then she should marry him if she wants to.

This.

Plus, you must take happiness when it finds you, no matter what age. Best wishes for them.

I heard at about 3rd hand a disturbing story about a man marrying a woman to be his caretaker. At the point where he needed institutional care, his adult children ordered her out of home they had shared and he owned. They had whatever documentation was required to take control of his care and they refused to even tell her the name of the facility he was in. It seemed obvious that the man and his children had planned this all along, after the fact. In the beginning, though, he was apparently very charming.

This story makes me think of your mom’s situation. She should be careful.
