"Unresponsive wakeful state" is terminology used in some papers. "Coma state" is seen as insufficiently descriptive, because some people "wake" from comas, (i.e. open their eyes), but continue to be unresponsive, showing only reflex movements. "Minimally conscious state" was used for a while, but lacks specificity, as what is "minimal" is subjective.

But, yeah, "vegetable" is long considered pejorative.

Ironically, many people are totally unaware of the difference
Totally unaware of person-centered language

Totally unaware
That "They are in a vegetative state" is in any way different than "They are a vegetable".
That "They have a disability" is different than "The disabled person"
That "That was an ignorant comment" is different than "You are ignorant"

I love you. I'm here for you. I'm committed to you...unless of course you should ever really need me to be there for you.

Not judging. Just trying to flesh out your thoughts on the marriage commitment and what it really means.
Just expanding:

VOWS? What are they?

Yeah, why even think about getting married to anyone anytime.

They should just stay single and live alone.

What if vows are actually bad
Or at least not as good as being reasonable about a situation.

Venn Diagram: people who think it's very important to know a person very well before committing to them and people who think that if a person drastically changes after committing to them you should stay with them.

Might as well marry people at random if you're expected to stay with them no matter how they change

I never said I was interested into entering a marriage. Hell, I definitely don’t want to get married. You are just mad because I’m at least honest with my BS and won’t put on a front for anyone. I don’t think anyone should be judged for not sticking with their spouse in this situation. I’ve had to take care of my mother the last couple of years until recently. Caregiving is a difficult experience and it is not for everyone.

In my opinion, marriage is a contract like most other things in life. You p$&@ me off or the relationship turns otherwise unsavory, the contract is over. May be cruel in this case but life can be cruel. Don’t know what else to tell you.

Might as well never get married at all, change is one thing that's a constant.

With the state being in "your" bedroom via the marriage license.

With the disposable mindset or the cringing on the possibility of care-giving of "x" amount of the population, they are much much MUUUUUUUUUCH better off living alone imo.

Unresponsive wakeful state is good. It's descriptive and none of the terms have any particular ugly connotations.

If they decided to get married, then THEY must not have believed they were MUUUUUUUCH better off living alone,.
