Right up front, this is kind of a silly question.
But I’m curious.
The man I am dating was talking to his mom about me and she wanted to know my favorite color.
I have only met his parents once and they don’t live nearby.
Why? Strange question?

True. Context is everything, and you're not aware of the context of the conversation, in which she posed the question, OP. Let it go.
