Having a gf is not being single. Most guys who have a gf are committed, no matter if they live together or not. It is the step before moving in together, he is not leaving his options open, he is not just rushing into anything.

You date someone. You commit, you are exclusive. You move in. You marry. That's how most people do it and I would not appreciate if any woman would approach my man whom I am in love with but not want to get engaged yet.

i agree with this but i put the onus of commitment on the husband/wife; and, not the free-agent outside the relationship.

Only if the free agent is a jerk with no conscience. But that's me. That does not make the husband/wife less of a jerk. It ADDS to the jerkiness all around. ANd there is often plenty of jerkiness to sprinkle about.

i put not seeing anyone but i see 2 voters didnt select it. is it that they prefer somebody whos already attached ?

There are a few more options missing, which is very applicable in California, because rent/life is very expensive.




- separated but still lives with ex (married or not)
- separated from spouse, not living together but no one has filed for divorce (yet).




I have been separated for 6 years until I got divorced. I dated in the mean time and I would also date someone who is not divorced yet.
