My SO and I met through Match.com Also know of several other couples who met through Match.com However, it's been 7 years and it's recently become very apparent to me - and I think to him also - that we are incompatible in many ways. Kind of a bummer, but I've learned a lot about myself.

Online, but not online dating.

I moderated a discussion forum, he was a poster on the board. We struck up on online friendship via that, which moved to a phone friendship spanning several states and hundreds of miles. One day, he went out on a limb and invited me to be his date to his brother's wedding, even though we'd logged hundreds of hours of phone conversation but had never met. Wedding was across the country, in a city where I had acquaintances I could bail and stay with if the situation was awkward, so I said, "Sure."

We met face to face for the first time in an airport baggage claim halfway across the country from where either of us lived, and spent a long weekend together at his huge, crazy Italian family wedding. We adored one another from day one, and I never had to bail and go hang out with my safety net friends.

We spent the next several months dating long-distance, meeting up at a midpoint for weekends when we could, typically meeting up in a major city about 400 miles from each of us. Then I got a job in his city, and moved to be with him at his request. We've lived together ever since, two years and counting.

on a serious note, I'm surprised so many people have met online. I have a few friends who have met online. One of my friends met his soon to be fiance on e-harmony and he's only 24, I was really surprised. maybe I'm just not a big fan of the online thing..I tried it once for a month..no thanks. I prefer to meet people in person.

I met my last S/O at work. He is the FED EX delivery guy where I work, and when I used to work in the Reception area, I would always have to sign for the packages. We knew each other for years before actually getting 'together'. We always kept it professional at work, but once we started seeing one another out (we frequented the same establishments), we finally decided to get to know one another more on a personal level.

Considering as much as 75 percent of people meet at work, I am a little surprised you left off this option.

That's how I met my dh.

Sampaguita...I have a big grin on my face because this is such a great story. How long have you two been married?

We met through friends and family, but it took a few years before we started dating.
