I generally find that people who actually ARE good looking, don't tend to go on about it - especially while not posting a picture.
Do you have statistics and emperical based research to back up that opinion

Just personal experience. I find people who toot their own horn constantly are most often those with huge insecurity issues. The mere fact that they always toot their own horn also makes them a lot less attractive to most people.
Quiet confidence is what you need to aim for.
