if its something he feels like he should hide, then hes in the wrong and you probably should break the relationship as he doesnt want to commit to you. DO it earlier rather then later after having kids and family and spending years and years with him.

There are many things I wouldn't share (i.e., I'd "hide") early in a relationship. One example is financial information. There are many things I will never share with anyone. An example would be past sexual encounter details. So, he could very well be in the right on this issue. We haven't heard from the OP why she thinks it was inappropriate or even what the content was about, or whom he was texting. It may not have been her business.

Anyway, based on the wording and language used in the original post, I think the OP is a huge control freak. I feel bad for the guy. This was over two years ago. I hope they broke up.
