A male friend invited me to dinner at his place on Saturday night. He is really nice but I don't know him that well? He told me he would take care of everything, if I wanted to pick up a bottle of wine and some candles. Does he just want sex? or, should I really not be reading into this?
I think it's hard to generalize the situation and come up with a response as it will vary by guy. Typically, I'd say there is a 75% chance the guy is hoping to get laid or at least make out. When a guy says something about having candles, it is his way of saying, "This is the type of romance I see in the movies and it gets guys laid so how 'bout that?" The only guys I know who really and truly want a bottle of wine and some candles and don't care if it leads to a romantic encounter are the guys that speak with a feminine voice and typically have a feminine everything about them.
If I wanted to just have a nice time with a female friend that I wanted to pursue a true relationship with, I would not say something as implying as bring a bottle of wine and candles!!!
I use the same tactic all the time. "Oh yea, come over to my place, I'll cook some nice dinner and we can watch a move after." When she gets to my place. "I forgot to make the food, lets just watch the movie instead." While the movie is playing try to make a move like cuddle, kissing or trying to take off clothes haha.
Works about 90% of the time then again you really have to make sure they are into you and they aren't a prude.
Works even better when you get a drunk girl from the local bar
