Gee, he's spent years getting 3 degrees and a professional designation. She has HS and dropped out of commuity college when she got pregnant. She has 3 kids - 12, 10 and 7 (and a 4th if you count her ex)
Riiight...because all single men & women in their 30s fit that description.
There's plenty of neurotic men in their 30s who are screwed up losers too, and there are lots of men who manage to get a higher education & build a career and not end up alone. Maybe the ones who end up alone would rather whine than examine themselves a little more closely...
Age, children & a career/education-focus work against women, but they don't work against men as much, or can even work in their favor. I think it is likely that it's harder for women to date past 30. Although 30 isn't that old. I'd move the age up to 40 if we're talking real difficulty.
Yes, I agree. Divorced (almost) again at 46 is difficult. Luckily so far I havent had to be out there in the dating scene. My first marriage ended when I was in my 20's and dating was a piece of cake.
There is way more pressure on women to maintain the look of youth plus there are more younger women out there competing for the men 30+. I think that is the biggest issue. And definately many men dont want anything to do with a woman with kids.
Also by age 30+ women in generally have a better sense of what they want in a relationship thus are pickier. Men IMO are more inspired by looks only.
I am not. well, to me it's important, but not everything.
Some of my friends in their late 30s have been using online dating lately. To their surprise, they have been getting lot of responses from men on there. It is said that smart and rich men nowadays go for online dating, and look for something serious, preferably in their own age group, which might be over 35 - 40. I am guessing that by that time and age, they are well settled in their careers, have enough money and are ready to mingle.
Trying online dating on match.com or promatching.com might be fruitful. You never know where you can find your love.
I never found that having an single child was a detriment to dating
I would have to say that I did. I didn't date AT ALL from the time my son was five, until he was 12, when I felt he was old enough to be home for a couple of hours alone. I've never done the babysitter thing...I've always worked full time so I've never wanted to hand him over to anyone, again, after being gone all day.
So I didn't date for 7 years. But, it didn't bother me one bit. I was too darn busy to even worry about it.
I think it is a lot harder. I believe the biology/evolutionary stuff (even though I like to think of myself as a feminist )
If you are 35 and single, men know a) they have to have a kid very very soon or b) they may not be having kids. Some men aren't that cool with that (although, yes, I know some men on here are).
The other factor besides fertility ~ I'm just being real people ~ most of us look better at 20 than at 30 or 40!
There are always exceptions (e.g., Demi Moore) but then there are the majority (e.g., Jennifer Aniston, Sheryl Crow). It sucks.

I'm confused here, are you saying Jennifer Aniston and Sheryl Crow don't look good?
