Oh, yeah, totally laughable. In fact, a phrase book isn't much helpful for as much as ordering a meal or figuring out reservation error in a hotel let alone romance.

And the response could be a real problem in countries where people nod and shake their heads in the opposite direction! It can get you a beating-up or two. In Greece, for instance, they happen to say "ne (nai)" for "yes"! Most unassuming people would perceive it as some form of "no"!

No, "no" means "no" everywhere ; only that their "no" happens to be "ohi."

Let's pray and hope. Virtually nobody speaks Ebonics in the USA, but from my chair "padonki" seems to be gaining momentum. Although I can't tell for sure, have been detached from that part of the world for decades already, you tell me, you know better. All languages change, but it would be too sad to see the language of Leskov and Tolstoy yielding to the padonki slang... Sorry for off-topeg!
