I knew a guy who was black and adopted into a white family, in a mostly white neighborhood. He grew up happy, played with his white siblings and cousins, was loved by all his white family, he was a good kid, neighbors all accepted him. Since he grew up "white" whatever that means - but it did apparently mean something, even though he was fine with being black, he grew up associating with just whites so when it came to dating, he saw no problem in wanting to date white girls and that's when he came face to face with racial issues.
He did not understand that when it came to dating, he was viewed as a different race and being from a white family didn't change that in the minds of some people. Suddenly he felt that although he was "one of them" he also wasn't.
Wait, wait.. I got one: If you were going to shoot a mime, would you use a silencer? er.. maybe, If Barbie is so popular, why do we have to buy her friends? Maybe this one fits better: If you take an oriental and spin them around real fast, do they become disoriented?
Nevermind... Seriously, why does it matter? I mean, the questions I just asked have just about as much relevance. Thing is, black, white, Asian, Indian, East Saturian, it doesn't matter. Maybe 50 years ago it did.. or more like 100 years ago when everyone was more separated, but today?
I don't believe that there should even be a term named "interracial" now days. When all is said and done, we're all the same.
I'm half Irish and half American Indian. I have vitiligo. During the winter I look white...very quickly in the spring I become an Indian...now depending on the season and the race I'm dating I'm wondering if it would matter what our kids would look like if conceived during my white period, my indian period or my transitional phase...ROFLMAO!!
Okay, I know, I know, there are a hundred thousand threads on interracial dating, but this one is different, I promise.
Okay, my question is this: If I, a half black, half Italian man, were to go out with ANYONE, would that be interracial dating? I mean, unless the female was also mixed.
Or, would it be one or the other. As in if I was going out with a black girl, it wouldn't be interracial, but if I was going out with a white one, it would be...bogles the mind.
Are mixed people always dating outside their "race", or never dating outside their "race" because they have no "race"!
I can't figure it out....
Personally, I would never date outside of my species, i.e., Nerds/freaks (the difference is only in fashion, let me tell you) so it doesn't matter I suppose.
You are going to be okay... Let me tell you this. I am Puerto Rican. However Puerto Ricans are made up of Blacks (African), Indian(Taino), and White (Spaniards). So I bet that you look like a Puerto Rican person lol. So technically Puerto Ricans are mixed. Now, getting back to your question, just do not worry about it. Many people are mixed nowadays
Yes, it's interracial dating if you date outside of your race, but our country is such a melting pot of races that just about everyone dates outside their race. I wouldn't worry about it. Date whoever you wish and eventually you'll find the one who makes your heart skip a beat and thinks you're special. Best wishes.
I'm with those who don't think it matters but since you'd like an answer to your question, I'll tackle it, but this is just an opinion. If your black ancestry has more influence on you, then you probably identify more with them and dating black girls would not be interracial dating, but dating white girls would. Vice versa if your Italian heritage has the more influence. If both were equal then dating either one wouldn't be interracial dating, but dating Japanese girls would. Next please.
IMO-if any person dates a person who is of a different race, then that's interracial dating. I don't think it matter what race or nationality someone is, it's when they date a different race or nationality that makes it interracial. And their children are bi-racial or multi-racial.
make sense?

Yes, 99% of Latinos and about 80% of African Americans are mixed. You just fit in with most of us poc's (people of color). Now what you need to do is not worry about this situation and concentrate on dealing the things you say are keeping you from enjoying the successful dating life you want to have.
Dating is dating. Love is love. It might overcomplicate things for you further, in any case, if you could understand that almost all people are "mixed" in these times. It's not always, if ever, about racial mixing, but also cultural. Show me a person who is supposedly purely one race, and I will show you a person who is either a rarity, delusional, or unaware of his/her racial or cultural roots or family tree.
Trust your heart. Again, love is love.
