....on the other side of the fence.

I heard from a friend that a man he knows saw my family and said we were a wonder family. We looked so good together as a married couple and my kids were so nice. He then told my friend that he wished he had a family like mine.

Apparently, he has a really messed up family and he just sees mine as all of us riding together in the car as if it's hunky dory.

How many out there have heard this and yet cringe inside knowing that you can't stand your spouse and that this person knows nothing of what is really behind the picture perfect family?

I mean, my wife is so mentally challenging and demanding and controlling and makes my life miserable and yet I hear this and I think, "You have got to be kidding!!!"

Your thoughts??

It's also greener over a leaking septic tank.

Get my drift?

I'm not married, but I know what you mean. In my last relationship, people thought he and I were picture perfect. "Awww, yall look so cute together", "Awww, yall make a NICE couple" or "You guys compliment each other sooo much"....meanwhile, in my head I'd always be like IF ONLY YOU KNEW....

Our family has been held up like that before, but they don't see the REAL us. Not to say we don't have a great family life, it is just that we are FAR from perfect.

Maybe you should just take it as a compliment, try seeing the bright side also, and appreciate what you have?

1) If the grass is always greener on the other side, it's time to start watering your lawn.

2) The only "normal" people are the ones you don't know very well!

This situation reminds me of a movie with Robin Williams called "One Hour Photo".
