What is with some men who you have to drag feelings out of- they don't express themselves with words? Why are some men like that? Or do we women just want to pull things from them that aren't there?

Default interesting thread

A book called Risking which i bought in the 80's by David Viscott talks about taking risks of expressing your feelings and the risks involved in opening yourself to a variety of people. For example. controlling people will project whatever unacceptable problems they discover in themselves onto you and give you an irritating obstruction, whereas a dependent person might become panicky, clingy or needy to a display of openess. A competitive person will respond in a way that suits themselbes or in a way they think they ought to respond rather than how they really feel.

Could it be that people who are tight lipped seem to know(or think they know) the reaction they will get when they open themselves to a certain person and therefore choose not to take that risk? or maybe it's just from being in the world where a rosk of openess does not yield the desired result so they just zip the lips? who knows?

I have to say, I feel for them sometimes. I'm a woman and I don't like being prodded. Some people read way too much into things or can't accept when someone simply doesn't want to talk. I agree there should be communication, but yeeesh, boundaries.

The more you press the less they'll be inclined to open up.
Sometimes you have to read between the lines and no
answer says everything someones not saying, and then
theres just talking things to death.
