I really dislike this double standard in the dating world where guys who like / have dogs are considered sexy and sporty, but a woman who has a cat must be crazy, desperate and unappealing:

vs

It is quite an arbitrary and narrow concept. How many times have we seen people's wish list of desirable dates including "must be a dog-lover". In contrast, rarely do we see "must love cats" included in those desirable characteristics.

Considering cats are clean, quiet and don't crap all over the pavement, while dogs are noisy and not nearly as clean, it is a wonder where this double standard evolved from.

unfair dating: The curse of the cat lady

Are you offended by this double standard (primarily propogated by men)?

Crazy cat ladies usually have more than one...

The guys usually have only one dog....more than 2 and I would consider him borderline as well...

Do you take him outside for walks? I've seen it and it's funny..and a little bizarre.

I've even seen one leashed up at a local Starbucks.

My cat used to walk to the bus stop with us (we don't take the bus anymore)...and he'd walk up there with me when I went to pick the kids up from the bus stop at the end of the day too.

We actually tried the leash...he FLIPPED OUT.

I border on the crazy cat lady some months. We have 2 cats but I usually foster kittens in the spring. However, I'm not single...so that saves me from that title!

I call women crazy cat ladies when they have more than 2 cats, which does include my stepmom and she admits it.

I say more than 2 because 2 cats will play with each other and they'll light up the house cuz they act crazy, dumb, and hilarious all the time.

Same can probably be said for dogs, though I see more dogs being single pets than I do cats.

"the crazy cat lady" originated from women who have like 15 cats

I wouldn't see anything wrong with a lady having 1 or 2 cats...I can't imagine anybody else would either
