Tomorrow I have to get in touch with some bosses from my old work and ask them to be references for me. Also I am going to go over my resume with a lady from the outplacement center (the same people who put on the webinar) by phone.

I filed for unemployment online this week - the EDD mails you through the USPS a time they're going to contact you on your phone. They don't email you anything. I guess they want to make sure it's you getting the paperwork, not someone else.

I also have to sign a release from my company giving me some severance pay. It's not much, but it's something.

I think I'll halfway enjoy some of the time off and the other time I'm going to look for a job as much as I can. I really need to work if I want a good life. I don't know what is up ahead, but I'm going try the best that I can.
Good luck, cricket. I'm sure something will come along. Sounds like you're on top of it.

Things should work out for you. Not to make light of your situation, but I sometimes wish I'd get laid off, well, not really, it just would be nice to have a month off, after that I don't know...

Believe me, Mr. Chow, I go through a whole range of emotions every day, and I think many of the same thoughts - "So glad to have this time off! Oh no, you gotta get back to work!" The fight of the internal mind and soul.

The moment they were laying me off, in fact, I was thinking,"Oh good, I get some time off." I kind of internally exhaled at that point. Weird, but true!
